Education in the countryside
The John Simonds Trust encourages children to learn about themselves and the countryside, in the beautiful setting of the historic Rushall Manor Farm
The John Simonds Trust was set up following the tragic death of nineteen-year-old John in 1983. The site is well equipped with a large 17th century thatched barn, teaching room and bunkhouse, toilets, showers, kitchen and parking.
We have access to a working organic farm with arable crops, sheep, cattle and chickens, a Regionally Important Geological Site and managed ancient woodland with the River Pang in the valley below. The countryside is known to refresh and restore regardless of age and Rushall Farm is one place where we will do our best to make sure that is true for you.
Schools
Primary: Come for a refreshing day (or longer for camps) to learn and discover the secrets of the farm, river and countryside through the seasons with lots of different exciting activities.
Secondary: From agriculture, land use and river studies to ecosystems, climate change and government policy; a day here can replace hours in the classroom in a much more hands-on and dynamic setting.
